belfast punk

"Late 1970's and the punk scene in Northern Ireland was set against a backdrop of spiraling troubles, curfews, home-made mortars, car bombs, Maze hunger strikes, security checks as you entered the city centre and worst of all… show bands in goddamn flares! Northern Ireland needed punk and it became one of the last strongholds in the UK."

Our friend Sean O'Neill at Spit Records is making sure the vibrant music of that time is not forgotten with a debut release of a live recording by The Outcasts in 1981, and a follow up release "Shellshock Rockers" which contains previously unreleased studio recordings from 1978 to 1981.
An unforgettable period of real punk at a time when it had began to dissipate elsewhere. Tough, raw and great fun. The Belfast boys always had the edge when it counted.
