Rebel meets Rebel is a country metal album by the
band of the same name. It was a one off record
written by Pantera members Dimebag Darrel, Rex Brown
and Vinne Paul along with American country singer
David Allan Coe.
The idea for the album was inspired when Dimebag
Darrell met Coe at the end of the 90's and they were
discussing the similarities between metal and country
music. The album was recorded between 1999 and 2003
when the musicians had time away from their own
bands and was released in 2006, two years
after Dimebag Darrel was murdered.
The album's theme is mainly a humerous representaion
of South American life but also has a few serious
undertones.
The album was widely accept by fans of
both genres of music and has been described as a
groundbreaking mix of country music and heavy metal.
There are no live recordings of the band, which is a shame but have a listen to Cowboys Do More Dope by Rebel Meets
