pandit ravi shankar RIP

Ravi Shankar died yesterday (December 11th). His influence not only on Indian classical music but on popular Western Music in the 1960's and early 70's was profound.
It's no exaggeration to say he became the musical mentor to George Harrison as the Beatles entered their studio only era and his later years.
Through Harrison's music the world was first introduced to the sitar master and the later Concert for Bangladesh organised by Harrison himself was a meeting of musicians and audience in a shared spiritual expression.
Ravi Shankar's music will live forever.
Here is a sequence from one of the two Bangladesh concerts in 1971.
