kid congo powers

Certainly it's a name to conjure with. Kid Congo Powers is the Californian rock guitarist and singer best known as a member of notorious outrages Gun Club, The Cramps and Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, (to name but a few). Maybe best described as a rock and roll journey man. So what do you do after all these years?
Get a good working band to pay off and release a couple of albums of seedy rock and roll weirdness. Tapping into the early roots of R&R they do a curious and fine job.
Here's the latest downbeat song and barmy video "Catsuit Fruit".

Live is pretty much as underplayed and sleazy cool, which creates an intriguing vibe. And not as easy to do as it sounds especially when most live bands are hopped to play full on. It takes time and experience to take your foot off the meltdown switch to this extent.
This is a suitably hand held video of the band in Amsterdam in 2011. Which surely must be the spiritual home for Kid Congo and The Pink Monkey Birds.
