it's been a tough 6 months for Devo, now guitarist Bob Casale (Bob2) dies of 'sudden' heart failure (19 February) just months after bandmate Alan Myers (see post) succumbed to cancer.
Devo first formed when Gerry, Bob's brother, and Mark Mothersbaugh met as art students at the Kent State University, May 1970. That was the same month National Guards fired on anti-war protestors at the Kent State Campus killing 4 students, which could go to explain much about the groups outlook there after.
Here's part 5 of a series of very good interviews with Gerry Casale covering the bands history. The questions are a little difficult to hear but Gerry's answers are clear and real smart.. the rest of the series can be picked up on the Marsailmar channel and are well worth the time.
So long Bob.
