the walking who..

Ozzie (Sydney) psychsters The Walking Who have their new E.P 'Mansions' released today, and a fine job it is too, and published by themselves which deserves much support. The recording of the tracks has an intriguing story and it's effect on the band must have been tangible as well as a lasting memory. All in all it amounts to a poignant tribute to the past and the future, which reminds of the other psychedelic tale of Arthur Lee and Love and (see post 'The Castle') in Los Angeles.
It seems The Walking Who really have stepped into the footsteps of psychedelic history.

"To record the new EP, the band occupied a space that has come to be known as the ‘mansion' in Wollongong. The house built in the 60’s used to be home to a wealthy old lady who owned a theatre in town and who sadly passed away in the master bedroom. Since then the ‘mansion’ came under the control of mostly students and artists and was transformed to more of an artistic playground.
The 5 new tracks really embody The Walking Who and their time in the house and like many of the strange and quirky items around the Mansion (roller skates, shoes and old furniture), it is another piece left behind by past occupants. This will be the last piece of art created from the space as the mansion is scheduled for demolition this month, August 2013.

What's more the band have put the album to stream and download on their BandCamp page and you can name your own price for the EP to boot.
Here's the sounds.. and below that there last single "Have You Seen The Colours?", which they're also giving you the download on via the BandCamp page.
This is all really good stuff, can't wait for the album.
