Here's some really good footage of the band live at the Roskilde Festival in Denmark on July 6th.
Formed in 2010 Uncle Acid get better as they define their metal psychedelia through live work. The early Sabbath influenced riffs and hard rock chorusing are now developing into a more in depth exploration of the instruments and it's showing. They get the authentic sound by using the vintage guitars from their late 60's influences.
Now into their third album and just like those late 60's bands they've turned to the tricky matter of the concept album.
Guitarist, K.R. Starrs " Mind Control is a fictional story...about a cult leader who comes down from the mountain and brainwashes his desert disciples through drugs, love, violence, and intimidation".
A concept you might conclude that draws it's story from the chilling and psychopathic thinking of one Charles Manson now rotting in a US penitentiary with his other so called disciples.
A concept too far then? Nah.. Uncle Acid and the Deadbeats are 4 guys from Cambridge, England and it's obvious they know their 60's psychedelic culture. After all you've got to get your song ideas from somewhere and rock&roll has a history worth digging into.
So here's the aptly titled "Death's Door" with a shitty youtube ad but it's worth that to see a quality video from one of the audience.
