Here's one of the lost gems of 20th century vinyl. It was a limited private pressing by a band with a name as obscure as the record - 'Cal Rock & Roll'.
They're American, which might lead you to think their from California hence the name, but no, it's said they're from Woodstock, north of New York (must be something in the water there). Their only album 'Homegrown' might give a clue to the contents therein. Underground Psychedelic would be the most literal description and
this track 'Courageous Cat' has a vocal delivery reminiscent of Jim Morrison with the song definitely feeling like it comes from the late 60's, early 70's. But no again, it's unbelievably as late 1982. Which makes guitarist and singer Larry Calabrese way ahead of his time in a new era of psychedelic rock.
A great pity more of this album hasn't surfaced.
