It's remarkable the amount of times we're posting about some very fine players coming out of Europe in particular Germany, and Henrik Freischlader is right up their, a guitarist with the feel and quality that in previous decades would expected to be coming from the States or the UK blues scene in the 1960's.
Freischlader is a prolific blues man and multi instrumentalist, on his 2009 album he played all the instruments, guitars, bass guitar, drums, percussion, and Hammond organ, composed the songs, wrote the lyrics, produced the record, and released it on his own record label. So talented? Very. Fiercely independent? Most certainly.
His guitar-playing is influenced by Gary Moore, Stevie Ray Vaughan, B.B. King, Peter Green, Albert Collins, and Albert King and it damn well shows, and to prove the point he's been supporting act for Joe Bonamassa, B.B. King, the late Gary Moore, Peter Green, Johnny Winter, to name but a few.
Henrik begins a two week tour in the UK starting January 27th until February 9th, For those in London catch him at the 100 Club on the 29th for a really close up and personal experience. See his web site for other dates.
So want to see how good this guy is?.. here's a really cool 14 minutes of Henrik Freischlader for the excellent Rockpalast in 2010.. er guess what? it's a German music television show. Say no more.
