dave grohl's sound city

The famous recording studio complex in Los Angeles closed in 2011 after 40 years in operation. The first album recorded at Sound City was Neil Young's 'After The Gold Rush' which obviously set the tone for the gold rush that was to come over the decades. The list of top artists and hit records is long, one of which being Nirvana's monster second album 'Nevermind'.
Hardly surprising then that Dave Grohl has a particular soft spot for the place, he actually owns one of the mixing consoles and now, amongst the myriad of other projects he gets involved in is making his director debut (although that might not be accurate such is his work rate) for a new documentary on the studio which is due for release in February 2013.
Should make good viewing too, with interviews and music from many of the musicians and producers who worked there.
Oh yes and Grohl is currently working on the new Soundgarden video and Josh Homme's Queens Of The Stone Age as well as... oh never mind lets just say the mans positively ubiquitous.
Here's The Sound City track listing followed by a trailer. Advance orders are being taken from soundcitymovie.com.
