Goatsnake, the American stoner/doom metal band were formed in 1996 following the split of another similar band, The Obsessed. The Obsessed's bassist Guy Pinhas and drummer Greg Rogers were soon joined by guitarist Greg Anderson and singer Pete Stahl and formed the band Goatsnake.

The band released a couple of EP's and a debut album in 1999 with a follow up in 2000. The band split up in 2001 but was reformed by Greg Anderson and Pete Stahl in 2004 with new members Scott Reeder on bass and JR on drums and released another EP. The original lineup reunited in 2010 around the same time as the re-issue of their second album Flower of Disease, marking the tenth anniversary of its release.
