dimmu borgir

About as theatrical and over the top as metal comes and sounding like a collaboration between film composer John Williams and the devil himself, Dimmu Borgir are one of the most impressive black metal bands you are ever likely to see perform live. Although now considered more of a progressive or symphonic sounding band, Dimmu Borgir originate from Norway's earlier period of black metal's somewhat tarnished history.
The band's epic music has not come without a number of lineup changes, one of the most notable was the departure of ICS Vortex on bass and clean vocals and Mustis on keyboards in 2009. The band went on to record their next album with the Norwegian Radio Orchestra and the Schola Cantorum choir totaling more than 100 musicians and singers.
