Brazillian metal band Sepultura have gone through a number of dramatic changes over their almost 30 year long career, giving the band various different 'eras' in their history. Most famous was the departure of vocalist and founding member Max Cavelera in 1996, leaving the vocal duties to be filled by Derrick Green whose first album with the band was 1998's Against. In 2006, further shock would hit when Igor Cavelera announced he was leaving the band shortly after the release of their tenth album.
Many people argue that the current band, with the only original member Paulo Jr. on bass, is no longer Sepultura, it is just 'another' band continuing on Sepultura's legacy. However, Sepultura have continued on with moderate success, sticking to the tried and tested Sepultura formulas, with 2011's Kairos being arguably their best album since Max Cavelera left.
Sepultura's highest period occured in the early to mid nineties, when as an already established metal band they started experimenting with other musical styles and adding tribal themes to their music. This is a fantastic live performance of Kaiowas taken from the 1993 album Chaos A.D. performed by a later Sepultura (with Derrick Green).
