meshuggah

"According to guardian.co.uk, Meshuggah coined the onomatopoeic term "djent", describing an "elastic, syncopated guitar riff", that later gave a name to a microgenre of heavy metal".
Which is probably what metal doesn't need. Another microgenre. So lets just say Mashuggah do different stuff and you'll either like it or you won't.
Here's Fredrik Thordendal (guitar) and Tomas Haake (drums) having a work out with a call and responce duet. Frederick playing what looks like an Ibanez 7 string guitar with tape on the high strings to get rid of unwanted top harmonics. Neat.
It also looks like they're having some real fun on this.
