Lanegan tours the UK in March.. which is turning into a big month for blues and rock. Having been at the heart of grunge back in the early 1990's he's since been slowly building his solo work with several albums. The new release 'Blues Funeral' has his baritone growl vocal amongst a backdrop of grinding rock blues not unlike Iggy Pop's 'Idiot' period of the 70's.
"during the recording I was listening to a lot of Krautrock". A suitable successor then to the 70's European dirge influence that attracted Iggy.
A notoriously grouchy man, he should enjoy austerity UK in 2012. It's how we all are.
