michael schenker

Formed in 1969 UFO have stayed the course to the present day with more members than you'd think possible, at last count a staggering 34 aside from the original trio who also came and went at different times. The original English band, named after the London club, in their early days playing "space rock" and by the mid 70's something between hard rock and metal. By the mid 70's UFO were best known with German guitarist Michael Schenker who joined in 1973, now a legendary figure in the history of metal guitar, Schenker was only 18 at the time. His history over the decades with UFO is as periodic as everyone else.
Schenker still tours with and without UFO. It's impossible to predict which. In this case a solo tour in 2010 and playing "Rock Bottom" which was originally extended at UFO gigs to provide a showcase for his guitar solo. The mighty Carmine Appice on the drums.
