mezarkabul

Mezarkabul (also known as Pentagram in Turkey) are a Turkish metal band who are considered as the pioneers of heavy metal in Turkey. They are responsible for helping metal gain popularity in Turkey while at the same time the band are criticised by the Turkish media for being satanists and 'poisoning young minds', so nothing new for a metal band! Mezarkabul's songs often include themes of war and politics often influenced by personal experiences.

In 1993 the bands first lead guitarist, Ümit Yilbar, was killed by terrorists on the mountain of Ciraf while he was serving the Turkish army. The band would continue to write songs dealing with Yilbar's death, including the song 1,000 in the Eastland.
