The Blues Accordin' To Lightnin' Hopkins. A new dvd release of the man filmed in 1967 by film maker Les Blank. Not the easiest man to film or interview Blank got lucky when he started losing cards to Sam 'Lightnin' Hopkins who then saw him as an easy mark and so more than useful to have around.
Over 6 weeks Blank filmed an "all access" portrait of Hopkins as he played, sang, drank and told stories.
So what in essence is the blues? Hopkins assures "It's about eternity".
Yep.. seems to be surviving well so far.

So here is Lightnin' playing 'Going To Louisiana ( mojo hand)' in 1967 and probably not long after the film was made.
