This month shouldn't pass without remembering Hubert Sumlin who died on December 4th 2011. The Chicago blues guitarist was Howlin' Wolf's main guitarist from 1955 when the band moved to Chicago. When Wolf died in 1976 Hubert continued on with the band until 1980. From then various solo releases under his own name and 2006 recorded "About Them Shoes" which had contributions from Keith Richards, Eric Clapton, Levon Helm, David Johansen and James Cotton. Richards described him as "a gentleman".
"Sumlin favoured a Louis Electric Model HS M12 amplifier, and preferred his 1955 Gibson Les Paul Goldtop guitar."
