the pirates



A grubby, dank or overheated, and always smoky basement. The Hope and Anchor, Islington was the perfect venue for the anarchic ideals of late '70s live pub rock, punk and new wave in London.
In 1978 a live double album of the same name was recorded. The Pirates played one of their legendary gigs for this album. They were one of the true links to rock and rolls early years (Johnny Kidd and The Pirates). Their fire had been lit a second time.
