richard hell

Happy birthday Richard Hell (born October 2, 1949). Poet, writer, singer and bass guitarist.
One of the originators of the punk rock explosion when it developed out of New York and then to the UK in 1976.
His spikey hair and safety pinned ripped clothes gave Malcolm McClaren the look for the clothing he sold in his shop, and subsequently the Sex Pistols image and attitude.
Stiff Records released Richard Hell's first single 'The Blank Generation' in 1976 and was one of the first punk records available in the UK. Later named "One of the 500 Songs That Shaped Rock" by music writers in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame listing.
