There's never been enough Junior Kimbrough.
His debut album wasn't released until 1992 although in the film (narrated in 1990) it mentions he'd never made his own album. It's astonishing this bluesman had been overlooked or just ignored by record companies since the 1950's. Running his own juke joint (filmed here) until his death in 1990 it was in itself the stuff of legend.
Charlie Feathers who was a friend of Juniors called him "the beginning and end of all music.". It was later written on his tombstone in Holly Springs. Junior died in 1998.
His haunting modal blues is perfectly captured here in his song 'All Night Long'.
