hell broke luce

A new video doing the rounds to another track from the latest and highly rated Tom Waits album Bad As Me.
"Hell Broke Luce" has a real grungey sound set to a drums of war beat and once again has Keith Richards doing the guitar parts (see the other Tom Waits post for the last track).
The video has been directed by Matt Mahurin who has worked with Waits previously. Mahurin has a very distinctive style to his music videos, being a well published illustrator you can see the influence with imaginative surrealist images adding to the power of the music. He's also a photographer and film director having made three feature length films before so this guys no slouch when it comes to visualising the story in a dynamic way.
Mahurin's got plenty of credentials too, he's made videos for Metallica, Def Leppard, Lou Reed, Alice In Chains and countless others.
He's use to working tough stuff then.. and it doesn't come much tougher than “Hell Broke Luce” the grim story of a war vet.

tom waits

Tom Waits new album 'Bad As Me' is on top form. The track 'Satisfied' has old gravel voice sounding damn close to a mix of Beefheart and Howlin' Wolf.
In a recent interview (Uncut. Dec issue) Tom explained the track -
"That just came out y'know, We wanted to make it a reaction song - cos every time I hear 'Satisfaction' (Stones version), I think the same thing : If you guys can't get any satisfaction, nobody's getting it !.. Fuck it, I will be satisfied ! oh and by the way Mr Jagger and Mr Richards..? (referring to song)   That was how it happened. It's a bit of a rant".
You bet Tom, keep on ranting.
Here it is with Keith Richards and Marc Ribot with the guitar riffs.
