the prisoner

Iron Maiden's 1982 album, The Number of The Beast, included a song 'The Prisoner'. The song was inspired by the TV show of the same name, starring Patrick McGoohan and the band wanted to use the now famous dialogue used in the titles of the TV show. Rob Smallwood, the bands manager, had to call Patrick McGoohan to ask permission to use the dialogue for the opening of the song. Smallwood had a hesitant conversation with McGoohan who is reported to have said "What did you say the name was? A rock band, you say? Do it."

do not forsake me oh my darling

Now here's a very clever video. Fans of the 1967 series 'The Prisoner' will instantly recognise the shot by shot remake of the opening title sequence. Made with a fanatical attention to detail by the group 'Do Not Forsake Me Oh My Darling' who's name also happens to be the title of episode 13 of The Prisoner.
Further more Do Not Forsake Me Oh My Darling also happens to be the title of a song in the classic western 'High Noon'.
There are further tracks from them also named after Prisoner episodes to check out here
There's just two of them Sophia (drums/vocals) and Mike (bass) and they are entirely in a world of their own.. or rather an episode of their own Alternative / Indie / Minimalist making.
Here is track 1 "EPISODE 1: ARRIVAL"

And if you really need to be convinced how breathtakingly accurate 'DNFMOMD' have made their video here is the original opening sequence to one of the best TV series ever made with it's unforgettable music and that fabulous Lotus 7 driven by Patrick McGoohan.
Pure class.
